Babadi Kamara Marks 100 Days as SLFA President

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, has completed his first 100 days in office, a period characterized by renewed energy, major sponsorship deals, and institutional reforms aimed at transforming football administration in Sierra Leone.

Since assuming office, President Kamara has emphasized development, transparency, and professionalism as key priorities for the new SLFA leadership. His first 100 days have seen significant progress, particularly in securing record-breaking corporate partnerships and strengthening football governance structures across the country.

One of the major highlights of his early leadership is the successful attraction of corporate sponsorships to support both men’s and women’s leagues. Under his administration, Leone Rock Metal Group provided $180,000 to sponsor the 2025/26 Leone Rock Premier League, while Marampa Mines Limited contributed $150,000 to the Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League the largest sponsorship in the league’s history. The deals were widely welcomed as a major boost for the growth and sustainability of football in Sierra Leone.

In addition to financial partnerships, the SLFA under Kamara has initiated several capacity-building programs for football administrators, referees, and media officers to enhance professionalism and accountability within the sport. He has also embarked on a modernization process at the SLFA Secretariat, with plans to relocate administrative offices to a new facility that meets international standards. The Kingtom Academy, meanwhile, is set to operate exclusively as a Technical Center.

On the international front, President Kamara has strengthened Sierra Leone’s presence in global football affairs. During his recent engagement with FIFA President Gianni Infantino, discussions focused on development priorities, including infrastructure, youth football, and women’s empowerment. He was also appointed to FIFA’s Independent and Standing Committees alongside SLFA Executive Committee Member Kweku Lisk a milestone for the country’s football representation.

President Kamara’s tenure has further witnessed increased recognition of Sierra Leonean football officials, with several receiving appointments to key roles in regional and international competitions.

Recently, he presented the national U17 and senior women’s teams both winners of the 2025 WAFU Zone A tournaments to His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio at State House, in celebration of their achievements.

Football stakeholders have praised Kamara’s leadership style, noting that his first 100 days have demonstrated commitment, vision, and tangible progress in rebuilding trust and credibility within the SLFA.

As the SLFA moves into the next phase of its development agenda, President Babadi Kamara’s administration continues to focus on expanding partnerships, strengthening structures, and promoting inclusivity across all levels of football in Sierra Leone.
