Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Central University has signed a strategic academic partnership with the University of Basilicata in Italy, under the European Union’s Erasmus+ program, as part of efforts to internationalize its operations and expand global academic collaboration.
“I am pleased to announce that Central University has officially signed a partnership agreement with the University of Basilicata under the EU Erasmus+ project,” Chancellor Muckson Sesay Snr stated in a message shared on social media.
The agreement paves the way for joint research initiatives, shared teaching programs, and mutual access to academic resources and facilities. It also creates opportunities for seminars, lectures, and the exchange of scientific knowledge and materials, all aimed at fostering innovation and cross-border academic growth
Chancellor Sesay described the partnership as a “transformative step” in advancing global academic integration. He noted that the agreement would serve as a gateway for Central University to pursue further engagements with other European institutions.
The Erasmus+ program, funded by the European Union, supports education, training, youth, and sports across Europe.
It has become a cornerstone for international academic cooperation, and Central University’s participation reflects a growing ambition among Sierra Leonean institutions to broaden their global reach and strengthen academic excellence through strategic partnerships.
