Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, His Excellency Wang Qing, has paid tribute to the rapid and far-reaching reforms implemented within the country’s Judiciary under the leadership of the Honourable Chief Justice Komba Kamanda.
Speaking during a farewell visit at the Chief Justice’s Chambers on Siaka Stevens Street, Ambassador Wang described the reforms achieved in less than a year as “impressive and transformative,” applauding the Chief Justice’s commitment to strengthening justice delivery.
Ambassador Wang highlighted the enduring partnership between China and Sierra Leone, noting that relations dating back to 1971 have evolved into a comprehensive strategic cooperative alliance. He emphasized that cooperation spans infrastructure, trade, health, social justice, and other key sectors, strengthened further through joint responses to major crises such as the Ebola and COVID-19 outbreaks.
The outgoing Ambassador expressed confidence that his successor would continue to deepen cooperation between both nations.
Responding, Chief Justice Kamanda acknowledged China’s longstanding contribution to Sierra Leone’s development, citing iconic projects including the National Stadium and the Youyi Building. He also commended the ongoing capacity-building program benefiting Judiciary support staff currently studying in China.
“Thank you for your support to my administration, especially in expanding access to justice,” he said. Describing Ambassador Wang as “a friend and a strong pillar of the Judiciary,” the Chief Justice added, “Your support will never go unnoticed. If it were up to us, your stay would continue, but duty calls elsewhere. I wish you all the best.”
The event was also attended by Hon. Justice Fatmatta Bintu Alhadi (JSC), Honourable Justice Manuela A. J. Harding (J), and Honourable Justice Kalila Diana Kamara (J).
