Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. CTC Mining SL Limited launched the newly constructed and restored Jeremiah School in Rogbere Community, Maforki Chiefdom, Port Loko District on Saturday, morning.
The project is said to be a major boost to regional education and community development, and it is an important component of the company’s Community Development Action Plan for Maforki Chiefdom.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by well-known personalities, including Paramount Chief Bai Forki Fainka II of Maforki Chiefdom, Paramount Chief Koblo Queen of Marampa Chiefdom, the Resident Minister of the Northwest Region, the CEO of CTC Mining SL Limited, the Presidential Spokesman Hon. Abdul Latiff, and representatives from the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), National Mineral Agency (NMA), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
CTC Mining made an investment that comprised the construction of six new classroom blocks as well as the complete renovation of six existing classrooms. The project also included a new teacher’s office, a store, school furniture, and specifically designed student bags, resulting in a well-equipped and friendly learning environment.
In his welcome statement, Paramount Chief Bai Forki Fainka II thanked CTC Mining for their support, talking about the importance of education for his people. He stated that CTC Mining’s contributions have surpassed those of other companies that have been operating in the area for many years.
“Education is the bedrock of our future, and CTC Mining has done extremely well for the people of my chiefdom. They have delivered key state-of-the-art development projects that surpass what other companies, who have been here for donkey years, have achieved. On behalf of myself and the entire chiefdom, we say thank you.” He said.
Other speakers at the event, including government officials and regulatory authorities, complimented CTC Mining SL Limited’s strong commitment to corporate social responsibility and long-term development that helps the local population.
The opening of Jeremiah School is said to have symbolised a new beginning for education in Rogbere, providing hundreds of youngsters with a contemporary and inspiring learning environment owing to a partnership between CTC Mining and Maforki Chiefdom.
