Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Sierra Leone’s Deputy Ambassador to Belgium, Ambassador Asmaa James recalled on her initial meeting with her immediate boss the Ambassador to Belgium Philip Bob Jusu, before becoming work partners.

In a welcoming social media post, James stated she first met Ambassador Jusu in 2012 when she was invited by the then Legal Officer and head of the Open Society Justice Initiative Sub-office in The Hague, Alpha Sesay, now the Attorney General Minister of Justice, to cover and report on the final judgment of former Liberian President Charles Taylor in The Hague.

She added that at the time, Ambassador Jusu working in Brussels but came over to visit Alpha, and since then, they occasionally checked in with each other to see how they were doing.

She further disclosed that after a while, in 2018, they met again at the Auradicals dinner in the United States.

“Today, we both have the honour of serving as Ambassador and Deputy Ambassador for the Kingdom of Belgium, accredited to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Hellenic Republic, the Holy See, and mission to the European Union. We thank HE President Bio for this opportunity to serve at this level.”

According to James, Jusu brings a wealth of experience from his work with various local and international organisations, including the Anti-Corruption Commission in Sierra Leone, the Special Court for Sierra Leone, United Nations missions, the African Union, and Google, while herself on the other hand, have a strong media background and extensive experience with international development partners.

James stated that on their first meeting, they asked God to guide them through this journey which she described as a powerful combination of two.
