Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Environment Protection Agency Sierra Leone has announced a significant boost in both revenue generation and environmental programme delivery in its 2025 Annual Report, highlighting one of the Agency’s most impactful years to date.
According to the report, the Agency made major strides in climate governance, environmental regulation, and pollution control—transitioning from policy ambition to tangible national outcomes.
A key highlight of the report is the Agency’s performance in finance and resource mobilisation. The EPA generated NLe 168.9 million in internal revenue, surpassing its annual target by over 105 percent. This marks an increase of NLe 14.9 million compared to 2024, reflecting improved efficiency and revenue systems.
In addition, the Agency mobilised NLe 10.43 million in grant funding, alongside USD 2.28 million in project funds received and USD 5.05 million in new funding awards secured. In total, the EPA attracted over USD 7.3 million in climate and environmental finance during the year under review.
The Agency noted that these financial gains have strengthened its independence, expanded its project pipeline, and enhanced national capacity to implement climate and environmental programmes across the country.
The 2025 report positions the EPA as a central driver in Sierra Leone’s environmental sustainability agenda, with growing influence in both domestic resource mobilisation and international climate financing.
