Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Kenema Old Students Association (KOSA) has officially launched its Pujehun Branch in a vibrant and well-attended ceremony held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, marking a significant milestone for alumni of the Government Secondary School Kenema.
The launch comes at a symbolic time, as the school celebrates its 74th anniversary and the association marks 51 years of existence. In recognition of these milestones, old students in Pujehun District came together to establish a formal branch aimed at strengthening unity and advancing the interests of their alma mater.
Activities to commemorate the launch began with a lively cross-country race through the streets of Pujehun township, drawing participation and admiration from community members. The celebrations continued later in the evening with a fundraising dinner held at the Calm Down Night Club, where alumni and guests gathered in a festive and colorful atmosphere.
The event attracted a diverse group of old students from various professional backgrounds, many of whom traveled from different locations to witness what was described as the first-ever KOSA Pujehun Branch celebration. Attendees expressed pride and joy in reconnecting and demonstrating love, honor, and respect for their former school.
Speaking at the event, the Acting Chairperson, Mr. Sesay, highlighted the importance of establishing the branch in Pujehun, noting that a significant number of Government Secondary School Kenema alumni reside in the district.
“It is a great step to have a KOSA branch here in Pujehun. This will be a strong and stable branch that will continue to celebrate our school’s anniversary every year,” he said.
Mr. Sesay also used the opportunity to call on other former students of the school, commonly known as “K-School,” to join the association and contribute to its growth and activities.
The successful launch of the KOSA Pujehun Branch reflects the enduring bond among alumni and their continued commitment to supporting their alma mater and fostering unity across communities.
