Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Foundation of Islamic Information Sierra Leone (FOISIL) has announced that they will be organising the 9th National Quranic Memorisation competition at Fourah Bay College Amphitheatre in Freetown.
The competition will run under the theme “The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it”.
FOISIL first organised the competition about a decade ago at Miatta Conference Centre and has been organising it every Ramadan ever since except during the Ebola epidemic.The selection of the FBC Amphitheatre is due to the large number of attendees who maxed out Miatta Conference Centre at Youyi Building in Freetown.
The competition has been used as the de facto national competition as the winner normally represent Sierra Leone at global Quranic recitation competitions.Although the organisers are yet to announce the star prize, previous competitions have seen top participants take home millions of Old Leones, scholarships and electronic gadgets.
