Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Myk Berewa, the Director of Communication at State House, was challenged by Abubakarr Karim Kamara, a member of the main opposition party, the All People’s Congress, to disclose the locations of Sierra Leone’s three operational rice mills.
This demand arose during Berewa’s discussion of President Bio’s flagship initiatives, particularly highlighting the government’s achievements in agriculture and food security, as outlined in the President’s recent state opening speech.
AKK disputed the President’s claim about the “Feed Salone” initiative, asserting that the existence of these three operational rice mills was untrue, as he was unaware of their locations within the country.
In response, Berewa urged AKK to investigate the matter himself, stating, “If the president lies in parliament, where there is efficient and robust main opposition party, they would have brought it that the statement is not true.”
The discourse also raised concerns about the lack of a platform for the opposition APC to debate the President’s speeches, suggesting a need for transparency to distinguish fact from fiction. Berewa further mentioned that the three operational rice mills are located in the provinces but did not specify their exact locations.
