Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The High Commissioner of India to Sierra Leone paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Minister of Planning and Economic Development of the Republic of Sierra Leone, H.E. Kenyeh Barlay, to discuss ongoing and future collaboration under the India Sierra Leone development partnership.

During the meeting, the High Commissioner briefed Minister Barlay on the scope of India’s development cooperation initiatives in Sierra Leone, which are guided by the principles of South-South Cooperation and focus on inclusive, sustainable growth.

Both sides held productive discussions on expanding cooperation in several priority sectors, including the blue economy, aquaculture, and digital infrastructure. Notably, the possibility of establishing a Hi-Tech City in Sierra Leone was explored as a potential flagship project under the bilateral framework.

The blue economy and aquaculture sectors were highlighted as critical for Sierra Leone’s economic diversification and food security goals. India expressed its willingness to share expertise, technology, and capacity-building support in these areas, drawing on its own developmental experiences.

The proposed Hi-Tech City project, if realized, could serve as a hub for innovation, skills development, and investment in ICT, aligning with Sierra Leone’s national development plans and digital transformation agenda.

The meeting reaffirmed the strong and growing partnership between India and Sierra Leone, built on mutual respect, shared priorities, and the spirit of South-South solidarity.
