This announcement was made by the Speaker of the Sixth Parliament of Sierra Leone, Hon. Segapoh Solomon Thomas, during a courtesy call from Indian High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, B.C. Pradhan.

Commissioner Pradhan revealed that the delegation is scheduled to arrive in Sierra Leone on May 28, 2025, and will visit Parliament the following day. He emphasized that the visit aims to address global terrorism and foster collaboration in combating such threats.

During the meeting, the High Commissioner condemned recent terrorist attacks, referencing a particularly devastating incident in India that resulted in numerous fatalities. He stressed the importance of global solidarity and partnerships in tackling terrorism to achieve lasting peace.

In addition to security concerns, Pradhan highlighted India’s commitment to supporting Sierra Leone’s development across various sectors, including scholarships, infrastructure, renewable energy, healthcare, and financial assistance.

He noted parallels between the legislative systems of Sierra Leone and India, particularly in their colonial histories and governance structures. This shared background underlines the significance of the upcoming visit as a means to strengthen diplomatic ties.

In response, Thomas expressed enthusiasm about the delegation’s visit and assured the High Commissioner that Parliament will be well-prepared to receive them.
