Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Ministry of Information and Civic Education has formalized a partnership with GOAL Sierra Leone through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant milestone in advancing civic education and health advocacy nationwide.
The agreement, signed on Friday, outlines collaborative efforts between the two institutions aimed at bolstering peer-to-peer community dialogues, launching joint health advocacy programs, and mobilizing resources to support civic education initiatives.
Speaking at the event, Country Director of GOAL Sierra Leone, James Mathiang, emphasized the critical role of information in development processes. He underscored the importance of the partnership with the ministry, highlighting how access to accurate information can empower communities and improve outcomes in public health and civic participation.
Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, expressed the government’s appreciation for GOAL Sierra Leone’s consistent support over the years. He noted the organization’s contributions during some of the country’s most challenging periods and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustaining the partnership.
“This collaboration reflects our shared values and goals. We are eager to explore new, innovative strategies that can advance civic engagement and promote positive narratives,” said Minister Bah.
The MoU is expected to serve as a framework for continued joint initiatives focused on community empowerment, public awareness, and effective communication strategies, aligning with Sierra Leone’s broader development and governance priorities.
GOAL Sierra Leone has been active in the country for several years, working in areas such as health, education, and emergency response.
