Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Mohamed K. Mansaray, popularly known as Kamarainba and former leader and 2018 presidential aspirant for the Alliance Democratic Party (ADP), has criticized President Julius Maada Bio’s flagship Free Quality Education initiative.
His criticism follows the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education’s release of the price list for the 2025/2026 academic year.
“Please see Julius Maada Bio’s ‘Banya-Fakie’ free uniforms and Free Quality Education in Sierra Leone,” Kamarainba stated.
President Bio’s Free Quality Education program was designed as a pro-poor initiative aimed at empowering children whose parents cannot afford to pay tuition fees.
The initiative of the Free Quality Education was launched in September 2018. President Bio, during the official launching of the Free Quality Education, stated that, “When I promised free and quality education, my opponents said it was a political gimmick. But today, I have proven them wrong. In less than six months, we have shown that free education is possible. I have always prioritized education as a means for development.’’
According to Kamarainba, he said, ‘’These are the price list for the upcoming 2025/2026 school year. What a shame! Maada Bio is a complete failure to the people of Sierra Leone.’’
