Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. A commercial tricycle rider, Gardriu Koroma, has appeared before Magistrate Mary Julian Gbloh at the Pademba Road Court No. 5 in Freetown, facing multiple traffic-related offences.
Koroma, who was operating a TVS tricycle with registration number AXO 095, was charged with five offences, including careless driving, riding without reasonable consideration for other road users, disobeying a police officer’s stop signal, and riding without a valid license.
According to reports, the offences occurred along Wilkinson Road, where the accused allegedly used an unauthorized route. Upon the reading of the charges, Koroma pleaded guilty to all counts.
The prosecuting officer, Sergeant 5598 Koroma S., recommended that the court impose a fine rather than a custodial sentence.
In her ruling, Magistrate Gbloh ordered the accused to pay a fine of Le 200 for each offence, amounting to a total of Le 1,000, or in default, serve two months imprisonment.
The judgment serves as a reminder of the need for strict compliance with traffic laws to ensure road safety in Freetown.
