Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The President of the Police Wives Association, Matilda Doris Sellu, held a strategic meeting with Mammy Queens from police barracks across the country at the Sierra Leone Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy in Hastings on Saturday 11, October 2025.

The meeting was held as a crucial step in preparing for the association’s annual outing that will commends on 13 December 2025 at Sugar Land, Freetown.

Mrs. Sellu disclosed that preparations for the event are already well underway, with tickets printed and the venue secured. She urged the Mammy Queens to take responsibility for ticket distribution and sales, emphasizing that free transportation, accommodation, and feeding will be provided for participants travelling from the provinces to attend the celebration in Freetown.

Several Mammy Queens praised Mrs. Sellu’s leadership, describing her as one of the most dynamic presidents in the Association’s history and pledging their unwavering support for the Association’s growth and success.

Mrs. Sellu emphasised the Association’s commitment to women’s economic empowerment, noting that profits from the 2024 Police Wives Carnival were distributed nationwide through a microfinance scheme to help police wives start or expand small businesses. She urged Mammy Queens to hold regular local meetings to foster unity and strengthen the Association’s network.

The meeting concluded with the distribution of tickets and a group photograph, concluding a productive engagement in Hastings.
