Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Minister of Communication, Technology and Innovation, Salima Monorma Bah, delivered a powerful message of hope and progress as she addressed finalists at the 2025 Orange Social Venture Prize (OSVP) in Sierra Leone.

“This is the new Sierra Leone,” she said. “One where young people are not just dreaming — they’re doing.”

The Minister was speaking at the national pitch event hosted by Orange Sierra Leone, now in its 7th year of supporting local entrepreneurs through the global OSVP platform. The event showcased bold, solution-driven innovations from Sierra Leone’s brightest minds.

From eight passionate pitches, two young changemakers stood out:

Edward Kamara, founder of MiBuks, won the National Prize (NLe 200,000) for his digital reading platform.

Richlyn Kainekay Turay, founder of Smart College, claimed the Tech Queen Female Prize (NLe 120,000) for her strides in education technology.

Minister Bah commended Orange Sierra Leone’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and digital inclusion through its CSR programs. “Platforms like this weren’t here a few years ago,” she remarked. “Today, thanks to Orange, we are creating real opportunities for young people to lead change with innovation.”

She praised the leadership of Orange Sierra Leone’s CEO and team, acknowledging their role in creating space for young builders, especially women, to thrive in tech and entrepreneurship.

“To every young innovator out there — keep building. Your country is watching, and we believe in you,” she concluded.

With Orange Sierra Leone as a consistent partner in development, the Orange Social Venture Prize continues to be a beacon of what’s possible when corporate responsibility meets youthful ambition.
