Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Minkailu Koroma, a member of the All-People’s Congress (APC) Communications Team, has voiced concern regarding Sierra Leone’s monthly wage bill.
Speaking on the issue, Koroma argued that the funds currently allocated to pay diplomats’ salaries could be redirected to cover wages for many ordinary citizens.
“The government spends million monthly on wages, and one diplomat’s pay could cover salaries for many citizens”, he stated.
Koroma’s remarks highlight ongoing debate at Liberty Online TV about government spending priorities, particularly in relation to the size of the public wage bill and the management of diplomatic missions abroad. While government officials have consistently defended expenditure on foreign service staff as necessary for maintaining international relations, critics argue that these costs should be balanced against pressing domestic economic needs.
