Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has announced that the historic Agreement for National Unity (ANU), signed between the Government of Sierra Leone and the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) in 2023, is nearing full implementation.

Dr. Sengeh revealed that the APC has appointed Dr. Kelfala Marrah as its new Chief Negotiator, succeeding Dr. Samura Kamara. He noted, however, that Dr. Marrah has been actively involved in the negotiations from the start, including the parent ANU and the Tripartite Committee (Resolution 3).

“All eight ANU resolutions have either been completed or are in advanced stages,” Dr. Sengeh confirmed, highlighting that Resolution 4, covering the payment of salaries to elected officials and the release of certain prisoners, has been fully addressed.

He further noted that President Julius Maada Bio’s Cabinet recently approved electoral reforms derived from the Constitutional Review Process and the Tripartite Committee Report, reinforcing the government’s commitment to comprehensive reform.

“The ANU stands as the backbone of our national unity,” Dr. Sengeh said. “It demonstrates that government, opposition, state institutions, and citizens can work together to resolve long-standing electoral challenges. Two years ago, I assured you that together #WeWillDeliver. Today, I can say with certainty that together #WeAreDelivering.”

Dr. Sengeh urged all Sierra Leoneans to remain focused on unity and progress, adding: “Let us not allow those who thrive in chaos and division to shape our reality.”
