Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. A delegation from Sierra Leone’s National Youth Commission (NAYCOM) conducted a site visit to Sierra Tropical Limited (STL) in Lugbu Chiefdom, Bo District, as part of the “Sunshine For All” youth empowerment program.

The initiative, supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), NAYCOM, and STL, aims to equip young Sierra Leoneans with market-relevant skills in agriculture, technical trades, and entrepreneurship—key pillars in the government’s push to reduce youth unemployment.

During the tour, NAYCOM officials inspected STL’s training facilities and discussed program impact with company management. The collaboration seeks to align skills development with labor market demands, fostering sustainable livelihoods for participants.

Established under the National Youth Commission Act of 2009, NAYCOM reaffirmed its mandate to empower youth through “cost-effective and superior services,” enhancing their role in national development and governance.

The visit underscored the partners’ shared commitment to building a resilient workforce through hands-on training, with STL serving as a strategic private-sector ally in driving inclusive growth.

NAYCOM emphasized that such initiatives aim not only to skill youth but also to strengthen communities as “desirable places to live, work, and raise children.”
