NDMA Issues Danger Warning for Heavy Rainfall in Sierra Leone

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Meteorological Agency (SLMet), has issued an urgent public advisory warning of heavy rainfall forecasted to hit Sierra Leone over the next three days.

According to the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), ‘’Heavy to moderate rainfall is expected across several parts of Sierra Leone, especially in the Northern and Western Regions, over the next three (3) days, 19th to 21st August 2025.’’

Because of the above, residents are hereby advised to observe the following safety measures: Stay away from flooded areas and bridges. Residents in flood-prone communities should move to safer ground when necessary, and keep children indoors and away from water channels.

Also, Farmers should take steps to protect crops and livestock and dispose of waste properly to avoid clogging drainage.

From the Directorate of Communications (NDMA), the Authority of the National Disaster Management Agency also asks concerned citizens to call NDMA’s toll-free line 1199, available on all networks for emergency assistance.
