Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Njala University Pujehun Campus on Friday 13th April 2023 inaugurated its Student Union Government. The inauguration ceremony, held at K.Woman Entertainment Center, brought together university staff, administrators, lecturers, students, and other educational stakeholders.
Thomas Vandy Sannoh, the Center Supervisor of Njala University Distance Education Pujehun Campus, welcomed all attendees and underscored the university’s commitment to serving its community. He highlighted the university’s establishment in 2017 in Pujehun District, aiming to provide distance learning opportunities and teacher training programs to local citizens.
Guest Speaker Mohamed Kallon, Chairman of Pujehun District Youth Council, delivered a compelling address on building and managing entrepreneurs in distance education programs. Stressing the importance of entrepreneurship in today’s society, Kallon encouraged students to harness their innovative ideas and take calculated risks to create value and meet market demand.
In his inaugural speech, the newly appointed President of the Student Union Government, Mohamed Ismon Moiguah Abu, expressed his enthusiasm for leading the university community and outlined his agenda focused on social, technological, and educational initiatives.
During the ceremony, key members of the Student Union Government, including Vice President Memunatu Sesay and Secretary-General Mohamed Jaward, took oaths of office, pledging to fulfill their duties diligently. Additionally, ministers responsible for energy and power, works, information and public education, science, statistics, and entertainment are also committed to their roles in serving the university community.
The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to lecturers and former students, highlighting their contributions to the university’s growth and success.
The inauguration of the Student Union Government at Njala University Pujehun Campus marks a pivotal moment in empowering students to become future leaders and change-makers in their communities.
