Public Sector Reform Unit Finalizes Correctional Plan

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Public Sector Reform Unit (PSRU) hosted a two-day retreat on Saturday, 31st May 2025, at Companero Resort in the Freetown Peninsula to finalise strategic plan for the Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS).

The event brought together stakeholders and partners of the SLCS to review and discuss the SLCS Strategic Plan for 2026–2030.

At the retreat, stakeholders shared ideas and gave input to help shape a full document with clear activities and timelines to guide the Correctional Service over the next five years.

Director of PSRU, Sulaiman Phoray-Musa, called on all participants to contribute in a meaningful way to help improve the content of the plan and support ongoing reforms within the Correctional Service.

The plan will be finalised after all feedback from the retreat is reviewed and included.

The SLCS is the responsible for managing the Sierra Leone prisons through the reformation of convicts. The Service was rebranded years ago to cater for professional service for inmates as well as staff. The new strategy is expected to add to the efficiency and effectiveness of the SLCS in the coming years.
