Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. A significant milestone was achieved on Sunday, October 26, 2025, in Tonkolili District, as the Resident Minister of the Northeast Region, Hon. Ibrahim Jalloh, successfully resolved a long-standing land dispute between Magbondo and Roborssor villages in Kholifa Mabang Chiefdom.
The dispute, which had threatened security in the area for over three decades, recently escalated into a series of skirmishes and a court case in Mile 91, where ten Magbondo residents were summoned to the Magistrate Court by the Roborssor side.
Minister Jalloh led a high-powered delegation to the community, joining Paramount Chief Bai Kurr Kuhrahray II and local leaders in a reconciliation meeting following the successful withdrawal of the matter from court. Addressing the gathering, Minister Jalloh emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence, stating, “It is only when you all work in unity and cooperation that you will be able to move your communities forward.”
After listening to both parties and community stakeholders, the meeting resolved that the disputed land belongs to Roborssor. The Minister called on Magbondo residents to accept the verdict and cautioned the Roborssor side against denying their neighbors access to the land.
Paramount Chief Bai Kurr Kuhrahray II welcomed the Minister and assured him of the community’s commitment to maintaining lasting peace. CSP Ishmael Koroma, Local Unit Commander of the Mile 91 Police Division, urged residents to uphold the Minister’s message of peace and to report future land disputes to local authorities rather than resorting to violence.
Alfred Marshall Bangura of the Magbondo community thanked the Minister and his delegation for their intervention, pledging their commitment to peace. Ahmed Alaska Bangura, speaking on behalf of Roborssor, described the occasion as a “historic day” and reaffirmed their dedication to sustaining harmony.
Both communities pledged to uphold the agreement and work together to foster lasting peace in the chiefdom.
