Sengeh Commissions New Elevator at SLPP Office

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Chief Minister of Sierra Leone, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, is set to inaugurated a newly constructed elevator at the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) office, a project he pledged eight months ago to enhance accessibility for party members.

During the commissioning ceremony, Sengeh reflected on the challenges faced by party elders who had to climb four flights of stairs to attend meetings at Unity Hall.

“After watching our elders of the SLPP climb up and down 4 storeys to join meetings at Unity Hall, I pledged to donate an elevator to the party office. Today, it’s ready for commissioning,” he stated.

The elevator, designed to improve mobility within the office, features floors named to honor significant figures and values. The first floor, labeled “MAMALA,” carries a dual significance.

“First is that, it’s my mother’s name, and second is that, it’s every mother’s name, and it means the home of mama in Mende,” Dr. Sengeh explained. He emphasized that the initiative is not only a tribute to his mother but also a recognition of all mothers in Sierra Leone.

“This gift is for mine and all of our mothers. This is the spirit of radical inclusion and One Country One People,” he added, highlighting the importance of community and unity in the nation.
