Sierra Leone Hosts Food Tasting for UN Tourism Forum

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. As part of preparations to host the 3rd United Nations Tourism Regional Gastronomy Forum in 2026, the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs held a food tasting event at ‘Treat Food’ Restaurant in Goderich.

The event was led by the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Farida Tunis. She was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Edward Kwame Yankson, the General Manager of the National Tourist Board, Fatmata Carew, and other staff members.

Chef Susan Senesie prepared a range of dishes using local ingredients. The menu included gron soup, cassava leaves with country rice, garri gron soup, locally made hummus with Koshon beans, fresh local juices, and noodles with fried crispy cassava.

Guests sampled the meals, which focused on both flavor and nutrition. The Minister noted the way Chef Susan was able to mix ingredients to make meals that are both natural and healthy. She also said the event showed the variety in Sierra Leone’s food culture.

The Ministry plans to hold more events like this in the lead-up to the 2026 forum to share the country’s food traditions and encourage public interest.
