Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Sierra Leone National Amputee Football Team delegation has arrived safely in Cairo, Egypt, after an 11-hour flight from the Freetown International Airport.

The 27-man delegation is led by Alie Sesay, Director of Corporate Operations at the National Sports Authority (NSA), who is representing the Minister of Sports and the NSA Executive Director. Both will join the delegation before Sierra Leone’s Group D opening fixture on Sunday 19th May, 2024, against Angola, two-time champions.

Receiving the delegation at the Cairo International Airport, the Head of Chancery at the Sierra Leone Embassy in Egypt, Alie Samuel Alie Kargbo, welcomed the team on behalf of the Ambassador, His Excellency Sadiq Silla, and the entire Embassy staff.

“We thank God for your safe arrival in Egypt after a long journey. On behalf of the Embassy, I want to assure you of our fullest support throughout your stay in Egypt for the tournament. It is our responsibility to make you feel at home, and the Embassy is well prepared and ready for that,” the Head of the Chancery said.

The delegation, hosted at the Five Stars Jewel Inn El Bakry Hotel, comprised officials, sports journalists, and players, two of whom are foreign based from Turkey, and some debutants from different regions and districts of the country.

This is the seventh consecutive appearance the Sierra Leone National Amputee Football Team has made in continental football outing for Amputees.
