Sierra Leone Police Introduces New Custom Uniforms

Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has officially rolled out newly customised uniforms for officers across the country, marking the beginning of a new phase in the Force’s ongoing modernisation efforts.

The new attire, which came into effect on Thursday, 1 January 2026, features redesigned police uniforms along with customised SLP-branded belts, shoes, and socks for all personnel nationwide. The initiative is aimed at strengthening professionalism, enhancing uniformity, and reinforcing the corporate identity of the Force.

According to the SLP, the introduction of the upgraded uniforms forms part of broader institutional reform measures designed to boost public confidence and improve operational efficiency.

Police leadership and rank-and-file officers have welcomed the development, describing it as a milestone that signals renewed commitment to improving officers’ welfare and motivation, while also supporting effective service delivery.

The move has been widely applauded as a positive step toward building a disciplined, professional, and people-centred police service aligned with the SLP’s long-term vision.
