Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Sierra Leone’s women’s cricket team bowed out of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier Division 1 without registering a single victory.

This followed a decisive defeat to Nigeria in their final playoff match.

At the High Performance Oval in Windhoek, Sierra Leone fell short in their chase of Nigeria’s commanding 159/4. The team managed only 74/9 in their allotted 20 overs, handing Nigeria an emphatic 85-run win and 7th place in the tournament standings.

Sierra Leone had qualified for Division One after finishing as runners-up to Rwanda in the Division Two stage earlier this year, but they found the step up in competition challenging.

Drawn in Group A with Zimbabwe, Namibia, and Nigeria, the team lost all three matches—falling to Nigeria by 96 runs, Zimbabwe by 10 wickets, and Namibia by 152 runs—before moving into the placement round.

In the 5th–8th semi-final, Sierra Leone lost to Rwanda by 50 runs, setting up a 7th place playoff rematch with Nigeria. Despite showing moments of resilience throughout the competition, Sierra Leone could not translate their efforts into a win, ending their campaign without success.
