Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Christian Conteh (Chris Wizo), one of the candidates for the position of National Secretary General in the recently concluded Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) elections, has formally conceded defeat and congratulated his opponent, Edward Marah, on his victory.

In a statement released to SLAJ members, Conteh described running for office as one of the greatest honours of his life. He accepted the election outcome with grace and extended warm congratulations to Marah, calling his win “well-deserved.”

He also congratulated the newly elected SLAJ President, Alhaji Manika Kamara, on his success. “Well played, Mr. President,” he said.

Thanking all delegates who participated in the electoral process, Conteh commended the SLAJ Electoral Commission for its transparency and professionalism in overseeing the elections. He expressed deep gratitude to supporters from across the country who stood by his campaign.

Though unsuccessful in his bid for the position, he assured members of his continued dedication to the association. “My sleeves are still rolled up, and I remain fully committed to serving SLAJ with the same energy and professionalism you’ve come to know me for over the years,” he affirmed.

Th peaceful conclusion of the elections has been widely praised as a sign of SLAJ’s strong democratic values and unity among its membership.
