Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Ahead of the commencement of the ICC U-19 Men’s World Cup division 1 qualifier, the Sierra Leone Cricket Association technical team has invited 26 players for high-performance training in Preparation for the ICC U-19 Men’s World Cup division 1 qualifier.
The Selected 26 Players will kickstart training with recent appointed Coach Kenneth Masinga to be aided by Alie John Kamara and other home based coaches.
The tournament is scheduled to take place on July 23 2023 in Tanzania.The Men’s patriots became part of the tournament after they emerged third in the division 2 qualifier in Nigeria with a Bronze medal. In Tanzania, Sierra Leone will compete with Five other African countries in the regional qualification for one qualifier.
The team will be clashing with Nigeria, Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania and Uganda for one space for the 2024 U-19 Men’s World Cup in West Indies.However, the Sierra Leone Cricket Association has been struggling to get support from government to fund their activities. Reports indicate that if SLCA gets the required funding the will travel to South Africa for High Performance Training before depating to Tanzania.
