Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, on Thursday honoured a special invitation from Orange Sierra Leone to attend the official opening of the company’s state-of-the-art data center in Bo City. The new facility marks a major milestone in strengthening the nation’s digital infrastructure.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by His Excellency Brigadier (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, and Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, underscoring the strategic national importance of the installation.
Sylvanus Redwood-Sawyer, Chief Technical Officer of Orange Sierra Leone, described the Bo facility as the company’s disaster recovery data centre—its second major installation following the establishment of the primary centre in Freetown. He noted that the investment reinforces the company’s commitment to technological resilience and reliable nationwide service delivery.
President Kamara’s presence at the event reflects the SLFA’s growing alignment with national digital transformation efforts. Under his leadership, the Association has rolled out several technological systems—including the FIFA Connect platform, the Competition Management System (CMS), and the Domestic Transfer Matching System (DTMS)—aimed at improving data integrity, strengthening administrative efficiency, and enhancing transparency in football governance.
“Football development must evolve with technology,” President Kamara said during the engagement. “The SLFA is committed to digitising player and official data in line with global best practices. Orange’s investment in digital resilience is a major boost to national transformation efforts, and we are proud to align with such innovation.”
The event further cemented the connection between sports administration and digital advancement, positioning the SLFA as a forward-looking institution committed to modernization and enhanced operational efficiency.
