Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Sierra Leone Police [SLP], Bo West Division on Wednesday 30th April 2025, convened its rotational Commanders’ Meeting in Serabu. The session was chaired by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Joseph Honor Kamara and included key commanders from various operational wings, such as the Operational Support Division (OSD), Family Support Unit (FSU), Complaints, Discipline and Internal Investigations Department (CDIID), and the Office of National Security (ONS), represented by Suahibu Koroma.
In his opening remarks, LUC Kamara expressed deep gratitude to the people of Serabu for their steadfast cooperation with the police. He emphasized the importance of strengthening police-community relations as essential for enhancing service delivery, improving officer welfare, and fostering sustainable peace and security. He encouraged the community to continue providing honest feedback on police performance, recognizing both commendable efforts and areas needing improvement.
Commanders from various units provided comprehensive updates from their respective Areas of Responsibility (AORs), discussing emerging security trends, ongoing operations, and community engagement activities. These briefings are a hallmark of the Commanders’ Meetings, facilitating better strategic planning, coordination, and proactive policing across the division.
While security operations were a primary focus, infrastructural needs were also highlighted. CSP Kamara appealed to local stakeholders for support in acquiring land and mobilizing resources to establish a permanent police post and officer accommodation in Serabu. He stressed that such developments would enhance officer morale and improve service delivery in rural areas.
Suahibu Koroma, speaking on behalf of the ONS, praised the Bo West Division’s commitment to grassroots security coordination. “Security is not just the absence of crime,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of strong partnerships, community-based early warning systems, and trust between state institutions and citizens. He reaffirmed ONS’s commitment to supporting the strengthening of local security structures.
Special commendation was given to the Officer Commanding Serabu Police Post, recognized for her developmental mindset, strong leadership, and dedication to community service. Her proactive approach to policing and engagement with stakeholders has significantly contributed to maintaining peace and order in the area.
The management of PAViFOT Company also publicly acknowledged the professional handling of a recent workers’ strike by the Serabu Police. They requested the deployment of an armed guard to enhance site security and expressed a willingness to deepen collaboration with the police.
The Bo West Division continues to thrive under the leadership of Chief Superintendent Joseph Honor Kamara, known for his operational competence, people-centered approach, and commitment to officer welfare and community service. His leadership serves as a source of pride and motivation for the division.
