Africa-Press – Sierra-Leone. Director of Public Affairs at the US Embassy, Jackie Moore, has met with Joseph Kaifala, Chairman of Sierra Leone’s Monuments and Relics Commission, and curator Olivette Barnette to explore opportunities for collaboration with the National Museum.
During the meeting, Ms. Moore said, “With a shared history linking the United States and Sierra Leone, partnerships that preserve our common heritage offer mutual benefits.”
She added that combining American expertise in cultural preservation with Sierra Leone’s local knowledge could lead to meaningful and lasting results.
‘’The U.S. Embassy looks forward to fostering these connections and strengthening ties.’’ She said.
Responding, Joseph Kaifala, Chairman of Sierra Leone’s Monuments and Relics Commission, thanked Director Jackie Moore for visiting and providing such wonderful insights.

The origin of the Sierra Leone National Museum dates back to before the country’s independence. The Monuments and Relics Commission was set up by a 1946 ordinance “to provide for the preservation of Ancient, Historical, and Natural Monuments, Relics, and other objects of Archaeological, Ethnographical, Historical or other Scientific Interest”.
