The current Organizing Secretary for the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), Jimmy Batilo Songa has declared intention to contest for the party’s National Chairman in the forthcoming national convention.
Responding to an interview in Freetown, Mr. Songa said his intention is to go vie for the envious position is to improve the democratic practices of the party.
The Organizing Secretary frankly stated that currently there is not much political participation among ordinary members and stakeholders in the party. “Those that want jobs remained unemployed because there is no party leader actually to cater for them,” he told Journalists and continued that he wanted to be the person that would play that role so that members of the party will have somebody who will care for their welfare.
He discussed that he is 100% supporting President Bio to achieve his aspiration and maintain power and explained plan to improve the administrative structure of the party by instilling the lost discipline back to the party.
“I want to ensure that SLPP members across the country be able to fully participate in agriculture for abundant food production because I want the party to succeed,” he said.
He said he refused to take any job because he said, the only job he needs is to become next National Chairman of the party to support the President’s agenda.
Mr. Songa emphasized the competition for the Chairmanship of the party is not just himself and former NATCOM Boss but, it comprise various stakeholders in the SLPP who are ready and prepared to contest for the hottest sit.
“I am confident because I have friends and people behind me,” he bragged and raised that power belongs to the people.
He prophesized that Dr. Harding may become an in adviser and recalled that in the past convention he scored 480 votes.
Mr. Songa reiterated that Dr. Harding made many lapses during his tenure office which he wanted to correct if given the opportunity.
