Africa-Press – South-Africa. Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero claims his “service delivery bomb squad” has achieved an impressive 86% success rate in resolving operational issues across the city.
The unit, formed in June this year, was created to monitor and enforce the implementation of service delivery initiatives. It is composed of seasoned public servants tasked with restoring the City of Gold to its former glory.
Presenting the “bomb squad’s” progress during its first 100 days in office on Tuesday, Mayor Morero stated that the team had already made a significant impact.
“In the Bara Precinct and Dobsonville in Region D, the bomb squad has restored parks, pruned overgrown trees, repaired sewers, removed illegal structures, and rehabilitated bridges.”
Morero said the unit has made a noticeable impact in every region across the city.
“In Yeoville and the De Villiers Street corridor in Region F, illegal electricity connections have been dismantled, and a seven-year water blockage was resolved within just 24 hours.”
