Africa-Press – South-Africa. Chief Justice Mandisa Maya said the South African judiciary is facing strain on almost all fronts.
Maya delivered the annual judiciary reports for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 financial years.
The reports show that South Africa’s courts are struggling to keep up with their case load and most are failing to finalise matters timeously.
The first annual judicial report delivered by Chief Justice Maya has shown a struggling judiciary with courts battling to keep up with case loads.
She gave reasons for why the Constitutional Court was the worst performing in terms of delivering reserved judgements, with only 13% delivered in the prescribed time
Maya said such delays, unfortunately, result in uncertainty in the law.
