Air Traffic and Navigation Services fully ready for the festive season

Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) said that it is fully ready for the festive season, with safety and efficiency as top priorities.
According to ATNS updated flight procedures are now in place at most South African airports, including OR Tambo International, helping the agency handle heavy traffic and bad weather.
In October some procedures at airports in Gqeberha, Polokwane, and Mpumalanga were suspended for maintenance, disrupting flights and raising concerns about the management of the country’s air navigation systems.
ATNS Spokesperson Mphilo Dlamini said that recent days have seen stable, high-volume operations at the country’s busiest airport, showing the system is working well.
“ATNS remains committed to delivering safe, efficient, and reliable air navigation services, working in close partnership with the broader aviation sector to support a resilient, well managed, and successful festive peak season.”
