The Gauteng High Court sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday heard grim details of how a couple on the East Rand allegedly sexually abused their children.
The couple also allegedly made several threats to their children if they ever told anyone about what they called “ugly things”, a forensic social worker testified on Tuesday.
The couple has pleaded not guilty to charges of grooming and using their children for sexual acts.
The accused, who cannot be named to protect their children’s identities, allegedly raped and sexually assaulted their children for several years.
The two – aged 41 and 31 – face 42 charges.
On Tuesday, the court heard that the pair lived in a one-bedroom flat with their four children – three girls and a boy – in Kempton Park, Gauteng. They shared a bed with their children.
The parents were charged with sexual acts they allegedly performed on their girls, now aged 12, 9 and 8, and not their son because he was young at the time and would not be able to testify.
The father allegedly committed several acts of sexual penetration with one of his daughters, who was 7 to 10 years old at the time.
