Africa-Press – South-Africa. South Africa recorded 828 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday, which represented a 5.3% positivity rate.

No new Covid-19 deaths were reported in the last 48 hours, and the death toll remained at 100 096.

Most new cases were recorded in Gauteng.

Gauteng recorded 370 new cases on Sunday, the Western Cape 205 and KwaZulu-Natal 172.

According to a statement by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), as of Sunday, the country recorded 3 732 075 laboratory-confirmed cases. Gauteng is the most impacted with 1 214 732 cases, followed by KwaZulu-Natal with 663 265 and the Western Cape with 653 596.

There were 13 new hospital admissions in the last 24-hour reporting cycle. As of Sunday, 2 113 people were in hospital for Covid-19.

South Africa conducted 24 060 151 tests, of which 15 739 were carried out in the last 24-hour cycle.

According to the Department of Health, 34 146 981 vaccine doses have been administered. Of those, 5 845 were administered on Sunday.

To date, 17 639 519 adults are fully vaccinated. Among children aged 12 and older, 2 014 834 doses of vaccine have been administered.
