Africa-Press – South-Africa. It may be the first day back in the seat for executive mayor Mpho Phalatse, but the ANC-led coalition still has the majority vote.
This was made apparent on Thursday in the voting in of eight councillors to replace those who were axed in motions of no confidence at the 11th extraordinary sitting of council last week.
On Tuesday the Johannesburg High Court found that Phalatse’s removal in a motion of no confidence on 30 September was unlawful, unconstitutional and invalid. She was reinstated with the decisions made under the leadership of Dada Morero made illegitimate.
On Thursday the ANC-led parties had 138 votes to the DA-led coalitions 125 votes.
Voting in their favour, the ANC-led government has ensured it has the upper hand within the committees.

Themba Mhlongo’s position was moved to the top. After a harrowing hijacking ordeal this week, Mhlongo had to be brought in from hospital in order to accept the nomination for the vote.
