Africa-Press – South-Africa. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is accusing government of turning a blind eye to the existence of the Kleinfontein community in Tshwane, which remains exclusive to white Afrikaners.
On Friday, the party marched to the heavily guarded settlement, condemning its continued existence more than three decades into South Africa’s democracy.
The EFF emphasised that it does not harbour hatred toward white people but was opposed to Kleinfontein’s policy of admitting only Afrikaners as residents.
The party staged a picket outside the community, demanding its permanent shutdown.
Law enforcement officers formed a line at the entrance, equipped with ballistic shields, yet not a single Kleinfontein resident was visible.
Police nyalas surrounded the settlement, blocking access to any unwelcome visitors.
EFF Gauteng chairperson, Nkululeko Dunga, said that the exclusive Afrikaner community stood as evidence that apartheid-era values still persisted.
“Black people are allowed to work here but are not good enough to live here. We are here to tell them that that’s racism we are calling against.”
The settlement was declared illegal by the Pretoria High Court last year.
