EFF Backs No-Confidence Motion Against KZN Premier Ntuli

Africa-Press – South-Africa. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has vowed to support the upcoming motion of no confidence against KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli.

Ntuli, an Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) member, was elected through a coalition comprising the African National Congress (ANC), Democratic Alliance (DA), IFP and National Freedom Party (NFP).

However, the NPF has since withdrawn from the coalition and has now filed a motion against the very premier it helped elect.

The KZN provincial legislature is expected to hear the motion on Monday.

With the NFP no longer part of the KZN coalition, the ANC–DA–IFP government now holds only 50% of the seats in the legislature.

If the NFP decides to form a coalition with the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party and the EFF, that block would also hold 50% representation.

This leaves the provincial legislature without a 50% plus one majority, creating a potential risk to the stability of the government.

EFF leader Julius Malema said that despite this uncertainty, the party will still support the motion to remove the IFP–DA–ANC coalition.

“We support the motion of no confidence. You need to differentiate between supporting a motion of no confidence and supporting a party. If the motion makes sense to the EFF, we will support it.”

Malema said since the MK Party is the largest in KZN, it is only fair that it governs the province.
