Wilderness Search and Rescue (WSAR) received calls for assistance from a hiker who struggled to descend the mountain at Chapman’s Peak on Sunday.
“Two hikers, aged 35 and 38, had set out on a hiking trail above Chapman’s Peak Drive, but upon their descent, the one hiker had become unable to continue down the mountain,” said WSAR, adding the hiker was airlifted by helicopter and attended to by medical professionals on the ground.
In a separate incident on Monday, WSAR rescued a tourist after she injured her ankle during a hike on Fountain Ledge.

It said the woman was ferried to the top of Table Mountain with the help of Cableway Table Mountain, despite it being closed for maintenance until 28 August.
“She was quickly reached and secured by the rescue team. The Cableway again obliged its services and carried the WSAR team to the top of Table Mountain,” said WSAR.
