Africa-Press – South-Africa. Three people are expected to appear in court on Wednesday, after the bodies of a missing Vanderbijlpark couple were found in an open field in Heidelberg.

Among those arrested is an ex-girlfriend of the 35-year-old man.

Last week, police in Vanderbijlpark requested help in finding Giving Makhangeni Mokoena, 35, and his heavily pregnant girlfriend, Nokuphila Dladla, 29.

Mokoena was last seen on Wednesday, 14 December buying food for Dladla. A concerned colleague raised the alarm the next day after Mokoena missed his shift at work. The colleague went to look for him at his house, but he and his girlfriend were not there.

Gauteng police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, said: “The couple was reported missing on 15 December in Vanderbijlpark.”

“Various units of the police that include Crime Intelligence, Hawks, Gauteng Provincial Investigation Unit, Sedibeng K9, SAPS Vanderbijlpark and SAPS Heidelberg were mobilised to search for the victims.”

Their bodies were found in an open field in Heidelberg on Friday, he added.

“A thorough search and investigation led to the arrest of three suspects in Heidelberg and the discovery of the bodies.”

The three people, aged between 30 and 32, are facing three counts of murder, kidnapping, and house robbery, among other possible additional charges, said Masondo.

They will appear in Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
