Africa-Press – South-Africa. Four men accused of attempting to kill a patron at an Olievenhoutbosch tavern during a dispute over a cellphone will not be applying for bail.
David Chaka, 20; Lehlohonolo Matshepe, 29; Molemo Mokgathi, 23; and Lekau Bolae, 21, abandoned their bail applications in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
According to National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana, the four men are accused of stabbing the patron at Zakes Tavern in August.
It is alleged that Chaka’s girlfriend took the patron’s cellphone and when he asked her to return it, Chaka, Mokgathi, Matshepe and Bolae assaulted him and stabbed him six times.

An ambulance took the patron to Kalafong Hospital.
The four men were arrested after a woman pointed them out to the police on 1 October.
According to Mahanjana, the four men are Lesotho nationals who are in South Africa illegally. She did not say whether they face immigration-related charges.
They are to appear in the regional court on 21 October.
