The alleged robbers, aged 33 to 37, were arrested on Wednesday. They were allegedly found with police uniforms, a replica of a firearm, and a car fitted with blue lights and false registration plates.

Following a tip-off, police officers kept “close observation of the suspects” before stopping them in the Johannesburg CBD, said police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo.

“The police’s Crime Intelligence members received information about suspects who were involved in bank-follow robberies and that they were going to rob one of the victims in Johannesburg,” said Masondo.

He said:

All four suspects were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit a robbery, impersonating police officers, and possession of suspected stolen property. More changes might be added, said Masondo.
