The mother’s attended “The cycle of a woman” event held at Chrystal High School on Saturday night.

One mother whose teenage son was killed by gangsters eight years ago organised the event..

A tearful Kashiefa Mohammed recalled how her 17-year-old son Raffiq was stabbed to death eight years ago on her birthday.

Every year on the date of his murder Mohammed hosts an event for mothers in the area who have lost loved ones due to gang violence.

“We are so broken. Please mothers hug your children tell them that you love them. We never had a chance to do that. We have to go to the grave yard and sit there and look at the sand.”

Mohammed made a desperate plea to the gangs.

“We can’t touch our children anymore. We can’t see them anymore. We need this shooting and killings to stop.”

Mohammed said that she will continue hosting the event for mothers to share their experiences and offer each other support.
