Hawks arrest man for Gauteng police officers’ murder

Africa-Press – South-Africa. On Thursday a multidisciplinary operation led by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team, in concert with K9, Metro Police, Local Criminal Record Centre and Saturated Unit arrested a 55-year-old man linked to the murder of Warrant Officer Soldier Charles Mgimba.

Mgimba, 51, was shot dead while having his hair cut at a local barber when an unknown gunman shot him on the forehead last month. The incident took place on the corner of Keefe and Gelden Streets in Bramley View last month.

Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Lloyd Ramovha said Mgimba was killed under, “… mysterious circumstances.

“A vehicle suspected to have been a getaway vehicle was identified. The said vehicle was consequently traced to the same neighbourhood. The suspect (was) consequently arrested at his residence,” Ramovha said.

Police said a pistol suspected to have been used in the incident was also seized, it is now a subject of a ballistic enquiry pending further details.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Alexander Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
