Africa-Press – South-Africa. Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero is in the firing line, once again, after minority parties in the council filed a motion of no confidence against him.
The Al Jama-ah party, United Democratic Movement (UDM) and African Transformation Movement (ATM) have submitted a motion for Morero’s removal despite previously being part of the African National Congress (ANC)-led coalition government.
The parties claim Morero failed to deliver on urgent service delivery needs of residents and failed to provide decisive leadership.
UDM councillor in Yongama Zigebe said Morero has proven that he’s not the best candidate for the job.
“Under Dada Morero’s tenure, Johannesburg experienced on of its most difficult periods of administrative instability and service delivery collapse.
“Among the most serious are national and provincial interference in the city’s appointments. The ANC interfered with the appointment of the city manager.”
