Africa-Press – South-Africa. Johannesburg Water says no complaints were reported on Tuesday following days of widespread water outages across the city.

This after it warned customers that the Hursthill reservoir was critically low and customers in higher areas might experience inconsistent water supply as the system was being restored.

Joburg Water spokesperson Puleng Mopeli said the Hursthill reservoir was impacted after Rand Water reported an electrical failure at the Palmiet system.

“Supply from Eikenhof system was used to supplement the Palmiet system during the outage over the past weekend. Supply from Eikenhof is back to normal capacity.

“The Hursthill reservoir has been impacted and is in the process of recovering.”

While the Alexander Park reservoir was stable, Mopeli added Joburg Water was continuing to monitor the South Hill Tower where supply was still critically low.

Areas affected by the South Hills Tower included Risana, Linmeyer, South Hills, Tulisa Park, Steeledale, The Hill, Oakdene, Rosettenville and Klipriviersberg estate.

“For Hursthill and South Hills, so far, no complaints have been received from our social media platforms, councillors and customers.”

Mopeli said water supply to the Honeydew area was affected following a burst main pipe.

“They have since opened and water should be restored.”
